Toyota (NYSE:) on Monday announced the new Toyota bZ3, the second model in the company’s bZ series jointly developed for the Chinese market by BYD TOYOTA EV TECHNOLOGY—a joint venture established by Toyota, BYD (OTC:) and FAW Toyota Motor Co.

Based on the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLVTC), the four-door sedan can travel more than 373 miles (600km) in electric mode. BYD will supply the lithium ironphosphate battery for the model. Although the actual capacity of this pack is not yet available, it is said to have a 90% capacity after 10 years.

The car’s battery structure, cooling and control systems, as well as safety monitoring systems, were all designed specifically for this vehicle. This makes it efficient, reliable, and safe.

FAW Toyota will make the bZ3 in China, and will sell the vehicle to its dealers there. According to September’s report, Toyota may sell the electric sedan in Europe as soon as 2024.

According to company plans, at most six electric models riding on e-TNGA platforms are in development. The initial strategy is to introduce a small car, medium crossover sedan, medium sedan, medium minivan and medium SUV.

Near mid-day trading on Monday, shares of TM were down 0.05%
