JERUSALEM (Stocksak) – Alphabet (NASDAQ) Inc’s Google has established a school to train high tech professionals. The school offers courses in data analysis, computer programming, and sales, according to the university.
Israel has a vibrant high tech sector, but there is a severe shortage in skilled tech workers. This has resulted in tens of thousands unfilled positions.
The School of High Tech will provide financial assistance to students from underrepresented communities, including women, the ultra-Orthodox and Arabs, members of Ethiopian community, and people from the geosocial periphery and disadvantaged social-economic groups, according to the university.
Barak Regev is the managing director of Google Israel. He stated, “We believe that a diverse range of voices and opinions enriches Israeli high tech and its developments.”
The university stated that courses will be offered over the next few days and students who complete them will be eligible for credit towards a degree.
Courses will be offered at the Google Campus, Tel Aviv, and the Reichman University, Israeli city of Herzliya. The courses will include programming, software testing, sales, and data analysis. Google will also offer scholarships.
The sector’s technology sector is responsible for 15% of Israel’s economic activity. Every year, hundreds more startups are started. According to the Israeli Tech Review in the first half of 2022 Israeli tech firms raised close to $10 billion in investment.
Google has been increasing its investment in Israel.
