Multiple reports have indicated that Elon Musk (NASDAQ:) and SpaceX CEO is now in charge Twitter. His Twitter bio now reads, “Chief Tweet.”

Musk tweeted “the bird has been freed” on Thursday at 11:49 PM ET, indicating that he now controls the social media company. CNBC reported that Musk immediately fired CEO Parag Agrawal and CFO Ned Segal, as well as Twitter’s head of legal, Vijaya Gadde.

A Delaware Court judge instructed two parties that they had to complete the buyout by October 28th or face trial in November. Musk entered Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters on Thursday and sent a message for advertisers.

Musk stated that Twitter was acquired because it is vital to the future civilization to have a shared digital town square, where a wide variety of beliefs can be debated in healthy ways without resorting violence.

“There is a danger that social media could split into far-right and far-left-wing echo chambers that create more hate and divide our society.”

Twitter shares closed Thursday at $53.70, but rose to $53.86 in trading after-hours.
